Max Ernst (1891-1976)

Max Ernst French Dadaist Surrealist Painter

Max Ernst was a German painter, sculptor, graphic artist and poet. A prolific artist, Ernst was one of the primary pioneers of the Dada movement and Surrealism.
Ernst was born in Brühl, near Cologne, the third of nine children of a middle-class Catholic family.
His father Philipp Ernst was a teacher of the deaf and dumb and an amateur painter.
A devout Christian and a strict disciplinarian, he inspired in his son a penchant for defying authority, while his interest in painting and sketching in nature influenced Max Ernst to take up painting himself.
In 1909 Ernst enrolled in the University of Bonn, studying philosophy, art history, literature, psychology and psychiatry.

Robert Coombs (American painter, 1970)


One of the most profound events for the artist occurred in late 1994 when he viewed the original works of Edwin Austin Abbey’s Shakespearean subjects on display at the Museum of Art at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
It was the first exhibit of a master artist Coombs had attended and it guided his future.
"For the first time in my life I could actually feel the emotional impact and power that painting could impart. I decided to seek after those attributes in my own work".
He became a member of Oil Painters of America in 2005 and won the "Hunter Editions Award of Excellence" selected by Dan Gerhartz.
The following year he won the best of show "American National Award of Excellence" selected by Peter Adams.

Diplomato come insegnante di arti presso il Teacher Training College di Eger.
All'inizio si interessò allo stile pittorico non figurativo, che mostra l'influenza del suo maestro, Ignác Kokas.

Rafael Espitia è un rinomato artista contemporaneo Colombiano che ha trascorso gli ultimi trent'anni ad affinare il suo stile unico di colorato surrealismo.
La sua arte spazia dalla pop-art da cartone animato e immagini in bianco e nero di celebrità a modelli di bikini dipinti in alcune atmosfere mitiche e cosmiche.
Alcuni dei suoi pezzi famosi includono splendidi ritratti di Freddy Mercury, Michael Jckson ed Elton John su uno sfondo astratto.
Le opere, a prima vista, sembrano un glorioso pasticcio colorato senza fuoco centrale, ma dopo un'attenta osservazione, si possono distinguere i ritratti di questi famosi cantanti.

Andrius Kovelinas (Lithuanian painter, 1958)


Lithuanian painter Andrius Kovelinas has been living in Ireland for almost 6 years now. His extraordinary style and imagination has been on show at The Green Gallery shortly after he set foot on these shores.
For many years Kovelinas had travelled throughout Europe producing his masterly works everywhere he wen “I travelled a lot in Europe through Countries such as Sweden, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Spain. My sister lives in New York I go there two or three times a year and organise small private exhibition for collectors. Before I moved to Ireland I was living In Northern France in the City of St. Michel".
Among traces of Kovelinas still visible there is a large fresco for the supermarket chain L’eclerc. He returned there for a short time in 2007 to take up a similar commission. At the beginning of 2008 he had his most recent solo exhibition in Austria, in the beautiful city Gmunden. In summer time every years, traditionally, he participates in the international Art Camp in France.
Most recently winning the coveted second prize in the most prestigeous Anglo-Italian Academy of Art biennial at the Chianciano Art Museum, Italy with his painting 'Red Dance'.
