Walter Ernest Webster RI ROI RP (1878-1959) è stato un pittore e ritrattista Britannico. Ha lavorato anche come illustratore.
Fu membro sia del Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colors (RI) che del Royal Institute of Oil Painters (ROI) nel 1920 e della Royal Society of Portrait Painters (RP) nel 1921.



Ha esibito al Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Glasgow Institute ed al Paris Salon, dove vinse medaglie di bronzo e d'argento prima della Prima Guerra Mondiale ed una d'oro nel 1931.

Walter Ernest Webster (1878-1959) è nato a Manchester.
Ha studiato al Royal College of Art ed alla Royal Academy Schools.

Dopo aver frequentato la Royal Academy Schools, Webster iniziò ad esporre opere alla Royal Academy e continuò ad esporre lì quasi ogni anno fino alla sua morte nel maggio 1959.
Espose anche al Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colors, Royal Glasgow Institute ed il Salone di Parigi.
Ricevette una medaglia di bronzo al Salone di Parigi nel 1912, e vi vinse medaglie d'argento nel 1913 e nel 1914 ed una medaglia d'oro nel 1931.


Da quando era studente, Webster iniziò a lavorare per riviste, costruendo una pratica corretta.
Ha prodotto illustrazioni per le copertine di diverse pubblicazioni tra cui "Ladies' Home Journal" e "Etude".
Molti di questi riflettevano lo stile Art Déco del periodo.

Ha anche prodotto illustrazioni per libri, tra cui: otto tavole a colori per "Champion" di John Colin Dane (1907); quattro tavole a colori per "King of the Air: or, To Morocco on an Aeroplane" (1907) di Herbert Strang; quattro tavole a colori per "For Treasure Bound" di Harry Collingwood (1910).
La sua opera è rappresentata nelle collezioni di Oldham Art Gallery and Museum, Paisley Museo e Galleria d'arte ed altre gallerie provinciali.


Nel 1937 fu eletto Vice-Presidente della Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

Walter Ernest Webster was an British portrai painter, born in Manchester. Studied at the Royal College of Art and Royal Academy Schools.
Exhibited Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Glasgow Institute and Paris Salon, where he won bronze and silver medals before the World War I and a gold in 1931.
His work is represented in the collections of Oldham Art Gallery and Museum, Paisley Museum and Art Gallery and other provincial galleries.
