Karen Hollingsworth: "Un dipinto ha successo se desidero esserci lì"!

La pittrice Karen Hollingsworth (1955) è nota per i suoi WindowScapes luminosi e ariosi.

In passato l'artista dipingeva spazi interni, ora include una finestra aperta che funge da portale nello spazio al di là.

I suoi grandi dipinti ad olio spesso raffigurano soggetti abbastanza minimali, sedie e normali ambienti interni, tuttavia ciò che attrae molti spettatori è il misticismo evocato dal movimento dell'aria e dalla brezza dell'oceano attraverso le tende.

Per Karen, un dipinto riguarda la sensazione che evoca.

Sebbene non ci siano figure presenti nei suoi WindowScapes, è difficile negare le implicazioni di sedie vacanti in uno spazio così vuoto.

È interessata a creare "l'impressione" di guardare attraverso una stanza e vedere il mondo esterno.

"Amo creare dipinti che evocano un senso di familiarità", afferma Karen.

Il mio obiettivo è fondere gli oggetti comuni della vita quotidiana, all'interno di una stanza, quindi aggiungere uno scorcio dell'oceano o di una catena montuosa attraverso una finestra aperta.

I miei WindowScapes hanno lo scopo di fornire allo spettatore un senso di solitudine e benessere.

Un mondo confortevole immerso nella luce del sole e nella calda brezza. Per me, un dipinto ha successo se desidero essere lì".

Karen Hollingsworth is known for her unique light, airy WindowScapes.

In the past the artist painted interior spaces, now she includes an open window that acts as a portal into the space beyond.

Her large oil paintings often depict subject matter that is fairly minimal, chairs and ordinary interior settings, however what attracts many viewers is the mysticism evoked by the movement of the air and the ocean breeze through the curtains.

For Karen, a painting is about the feeling it evokes.

Although there are no figures present in her WindowScapes, it is difficult to deny the implications of vacant chairs in such an empty space.

She is interested in creating the "impression" of looking through a room and seeing the world outside.

"I love to create paintings that evoke a sense of the familiar", says Karen.

"My goal is to blend the common objects of everyday life, within the interior of a room, then add a glimpse of the ocean or a mountain range through an open window.

My WindowScapes are intended to provide the viewer with a sense of solitude and well being.

A comfortable world bathed in sunlight and warm breezes.

For me, a painting is successful if I wish I were there".
