Mihail Aleksandrov is one of the most influential and recognizable Russian painters in the world.
He is collected in more than 20 countries.
Aleksandrov was born in Vilnius, Lithuania.
He attended the Vilnius Art School classes for five years and then studied at the Vilnius Pedagogical Institute.
He received his degree in Russian Language and Literature in 1971.



Following his graduation, Aleksandrov taught Art Technique for five years.
While he was continuing to produce artwork during his teaching years, it was not until 1978 that he began selling his paintings through various art dealers networks.

In 1979, he emigrated to America and settled in Los Angeles, CA.
He spent a year there before moving permanently to New York, NY in 1982.
His work is part of the official collections of the State Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg and the Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art, in Russia.


Mihail Aleksandrov belongs to that rare type of artist who is absolutely self sufficient.
Artists such as he are independent of any prevailing trends or tendencies; their main urge is to create their own mythology, if not cosmogony.

Aleksandrov è nato a Vilnius, in Lituania, nel giugno del 1949.
Ha frequentato per cinque anni le lezioni della Scuola d'arte di Vilnius e poi ha studiato all'Istituto pedagogico di Vilnius.
Ha conseguito la laurea in Lingua e Letteratura Russa nel 1971.


Dopo la laurea, Aleksandrov ha insegnato tecnica artistica per cinque anni.
Mentre continuava a produrre opere d'arte durante gli anni di insegnamento, solo nel 1978 iniziò a vendere i suoi dipinti attraverso varie reti di mercanti d'arte.
Nel 1979 emigrò in America e si stabilì a Los Angeles, in California.

La sua opera fa parte delle collezioni ufficiali del Museo Statale Russo di San Pietroburgo e del Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Mosca, in Russia.
