Dante Gabriel Rossetti ed Elizabeth Siddal

Il Preraffaellismo era un movimento che rifiutava le tradizioni che supponeva posteriori alla pittura di Raffaello Sanzio, rivalutando l'arte dei «primitivi» e dei quattrocentisti: sul piano ideologico, invece, si auspicava un ritorno «all'araldico mondo della cristianità medievale» ed ad un'arte genuina, semplificata, attingendo particolare vigore dai Nazareni, dal gruppo dei puristi italiani e dai primitifs francesi.

Intanto Rossetti si invaghì, nel 1850, di una delle sue modelle.

Era costei Elizabeth Siddal, una donna dolce, indigente ma molto colta e versata nelle arti, che sposò poi dieci anni dopo, nel 1860.

Remzi Taskiran, 1961

Nato ad Adıyaman in Turchia, Remzi Taşkıran ha completato gli studi superiori ad Istanbul. Ha ottenuto la sua educazione artistica dal pittore Saadettin Çağlarca.

L'artista, che ha lavorato per qualche tempo come pittore di stampa, ha opere che sono state esposte in collezioni sia in patria che all'estero.

Pittore professionista - Taşkıran ha aperto un suo studio ad Istanbul, dove impiega del tempo per creare temi unici per la sua arte, prevenendo le preoccupazioni della vita quotidiana mentre si prepara per le sue mostre.

In particolare nei suoi dipinti basati sulle impressioni locali, si osserva che va oltre le sue azioni quotidiane e crea dipinti originali in cui il suo spirito, coscienza, capacità ed istinti vengono alla luce.

La vicinanza ai valori tradizionali di Taşkıran è evidenziata agli occhi della critica come capacità di ritrarre uno stile pittorico unico.

Ilya Repin (Russian, 1844 -1930)

Ilya Yefimovich Repin /Илья Ефимович Репин was a Russian realist painter. He was the most renowned Russian artist of the 19th century, when his position in the world of art was comparable to that of Leo Tolstoy in literature. He played a major role in bringing Russian art into the mainstream of European culture.

His major works include Barge Haulers on the Volga (1873), Religious Procession in Kursk Province (1883) and Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks (1880–1891).

Repin persistently searched for new techniques and content to give his work more fullness and depth. Repin had a set of favorite subjects, and a limited circle of people whose portraits he painted. But he had a deep sense of purpose in his aesthetics, and had the great artistic gift to sense the spirit of the age and its reflection in the lives and characters of individuals.

Albert Williams (1922-2010) Floral still-life painter

British painter🎨 Albert Williams was a painter of flowers in the tradition of the seventeenth century Flemish School of painters.

Williams was born in 1922 in Sussex, England. His father and grandfather were his first teachers.

As a boy in Brighton he attended Brighton School of Art, moving to London where he was employed by Sanderson's in their studio.

Vittorio Matteo Corcos (1859-1933) | Genre painter

Italian painter🎨 Vittorio Matteo Corcos was  known for genre works🎨 depict winsome and finely dressed young men and women, in moments of repose and recreation.

Born on October 4, 1859 in Livorno, Italy, he studied drawing and painting at the Academia di Belle Arti in Florence under Enrico Pollastrini.

Between 1881-1886, he frequently exhibited at the Salon.

His works are held in the collections of the Uffizi in Florence and the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome.
