Counted among Florida's artists’ elite, award-winning painter Laurie Snow Hein is known beyond her home of Florida reaching audiences around the world.
With pieces varying from tropical landscapes and botanicals to animals in action and fine portraits, her work appeals to art aficionados across the board.
Her canvases burst into life with sparkling light and brilliant color forming breathtaking dramatic scenes.
Creating since the age of five, Laurie was destined to flourish in art society, winning multiple awards and illustrating a number of published books.
She balances her time painting with conducting workshops, teaching classes and occasional commissioned portraits.
Working 30 years as a professional artist, teacher, licensed artist, illustrator, showing at art festival circuits, Laurie now shows primarily in Florida.
Her subject is concentrated on local landscapes, beaches, botanicals, wildlife. The beauty and variety of God’s creation is all the inspiration needed when exploring the amazing world there is to enjoy. Large paintings making you feel in the moment are her forte. Although very realistic, her brushstrokes are bold, rich with colors, transparent glazing, textures, and energetic.
You feel like you could almost step into the painting.
The pace was so fast and demanding for many years that there wasn’t time to consider entering competitions for awards. Now at 70 plus there is a focus to share her art more with her peers and enter competitions creating greater value for her many collectors.
Traveling is a passion, while she searches out the heart of locations to paint. In 2019 Laurie traveled across the US on a 90-day trip starting a new collection of artwork representing our National Parks.
Artist Statement
The mystique and natural beauty of Florida are the elements that inspire me to bring a canvas to life by capturing a special time of day that is magical. Painting the raw splendor and energy of Florida’s natural environment allows me as an artist to introduce the observer of my artwork to the wonderment I feel when observing God’s craftsmanship.
By creating a painting of clouds, ocean, landscape, or birds unique to Florida on canvas, I can bring to life the light and inspiration that makes my work and spirit come alive with beauty, color, emotion.

It is in quiet places and natural environments, away from crowds, traffic, buildings, that we find peace and inspiration in nature to restore our energy and soul. I paint this tropical paradise to bring it back home for others to savor and enjoy.
Laurie Snow Hein dipinge dalla prima elementare quando ha preso in mano per la prima volta un pennello e ha guardato i colori brillanti della vernice che gocciolavano sulla carta.
È stato amore a prima vista. I suoi genitori l'avevano convinta che era impossibile fare carriera come artista; ma era nel suo DNA. Entrambi i genitori, fratello e nonna avevano molti talenti nelle arti.
All'età di dodici anni ha iniziato a studiare con Graham Ingels, un illustratore in pensione, famoso per "Tales From the Crypt". Il suo insegnante di liceo l'ha incoraggiata a fare domanda per una borsa di studio che ha ricevuto dal Columbus College of Art and Design. Ha deciso di specializzarsi in design industriale per essere pratica. Alla fine del suo primo anno, Laurie è stata la prima matricola del CCAD a ricevere la borsa di studio Katherine M. Tuttle.
Dopo il college, si sposò considerando l'arte come un passatempo. Sei figli dopo, all'età di 40 anni, aveva improvvisamente bisogno di sostenere la sua famiglia da sola. La sua forza erano le arti, in primis la ritrattistica, così iniziò subito a fare pubblicità per dipingere ritratti.
Il suo garage è stato convertito in uno studio didattico. Ha preso un lavoro come insegnante d'arte in tutti i mezzi, insegnando in due country club locali. Quando i suoi dipinti di bambini e animali sono stati notati da un editore nazionale, è stata lanciata la sua carriera nella concessione di licenze e riproduzioni d'arte.
Dio la benedisse e le fornì le opportunità e la capacità di sostenere la sua famiglia con talento artistico. Se non fosse stato per la necessità di usare le sue capacità artistiche, non sarebbe mai diventata l'artista che è oggi.
Lavorando per 30 anni come artista professionista, insegnante, artista con licenza, illustratrice, esibendosi in circuiti di festival d'arte, Laurie ora mostra principalmente in Florida. Il suo soggetto è concentrato su paesaggi locali, spiagge, botaniche, fauna selvatica.
La bellezza e la varietà della creazione di Dio sono tutta l'ispirazione necessaria per esplorare il fantastico mondo che c'è da godere. I grandi dipinti che ti fanno sentire nel momento sono il suo forte.
Sebbene molto realistiche, le sue pennellate sono audaci, ricche di colori, vetri trasparenti, trame ed energiche. Ti senti come se potessi quasi entrare nel dipinto. Il ritmo è stato così veloce ed impegnativo per molti anni che non c'era tempo per prendere in considerazione l'iscrizione a concorsi per i premi.
Ora, a più di 70 anni, c'è l'obiettivo di condividere maggiormente la sua arte con i suoi coetanei e partecipare a concorsi che creano maggiore valore per i suoi numerosi collezionisti.
Viaggiare è una passione, mentre cerca il cuore dei luoghi da dipingere. Nel 2019 Laurie ha attraversato gli Stati Uniti per un viaggio di 90 giorni iniziando una nuova collezione di opere d'arte che rappresentano i parchi nazionali.
