Charles Isaac Ginner CBE ARA was a Franco-British painter painter of landscape and urban subjects.

Born in the south of France at Cannes, of British parents, in 1910 he settled in London, where he was an associate of Spencer Gore and Harold Gilman and a key member of the Camden Town Group.

Early years and studies

Charles Isaac Ginner was born on 4 March 1878 in Cannes, the second son of Isaac Benjamin Ginner, a British doctor.

He had a younger sister, Ruby (b. 1886; who became the dance teacher Ruby Dyer). He was educated in Cannes at the Institut Stanislas.

In 1874, Alfred Sisley (French Impressionist painter, 1839-1899) moved to Marly-le-Roi and became the chronicler of this village situated a few kilometres to the west of Paris.

His most beautiful motif was when the Seine burst its banks and flooded the neighbouring village of Port-Marly in the spring of 1876.

The artist produced six paintings of this event.

He captured the great expanse of water with moving reflections that transformed the peaceful house of a wine merchant into something mysterious and poetic.

Two of these paintings are in the Musée d'Orsay.

Jean-Gabriel Domergue (1889-1962)

Domergue Jean-Gabriel è stato un pittore Francese. Dopo gli studi liceali frequenta l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Parigi. Il suo talento artistico sboccia precocemente: a soli 17 anni, nel 1906, espone al Salone degli Artisti.

Joan Marti Aragonés (1936-2009)

Joan Marti Aragonés rimane uno degli artisti più importanti in Spagna. Nato a Barcellona, iniziò i suoi studi artistici nel 1950.

In 1797 François-Bernard Boyer-Fonfrède, an industrial textile manufacturer, commissioned Charles Meynier (Paris, 1768-1832) to paint nine canvases featuring Apollo and the Muses for a large room in his home in Toulouse.

Meynier exhibited the painting based on this drawing at the Salon of 1800 but ultimately only completed five canvases, as his patron ran out of money.

The paintings were installed in the hall of Wallenried Castle, Switzerland by General Castella de Berlens around 1824, where they remained until 1983.

Early Life and Initial Training

She was born on January 13, 1848, in Miskovice (near Kutná Hora) in Eastern Europe. The first bibliographical indication of Antonietta Brandeis dates from her teens, when she is mentioned as a pupil of the Czech artist Karel Javurek of Prague. After the death of Brandeis' father, her mother, Giuseppina Dravhozvall, married the Venetian Giovanni Nobile Scaramella; shortly afterward the family apparently moved to Venice.

In the 1867 registry of the Venetian Academy of Fine Arts, Brandeis is listed as being enrolled as an art student. At this time, Brandeis would have been nineteen, and one of the first females to receive academic instruction in the fine arts in Italy. In fact, the Ministry granted women the legal right to instruction in the fine arts only in 1875, by which time Brandeis had finished her education at the Academy.

Teofilo Patini (Abruzzo, 1840 - Naples, 1906) was an Italian painter, active in a Verista style.

He was born to a landowning family of some wealth.

In 1855, he began classical studies in Sulmona under the Latin scholar, Leopoldo Dorrucci. Patini's father had taken a position as chancellor of the Royal Judiciary in that town.

He acquired a diploma of "Belle Lettere", and then enrolled in the University of Naples to study philosophy, then transferred to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples.

"The Potato Eaters" (Dutch: De Aardappeleters) is an oil painting by Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh painted in April 1885 in Nuenen, Netherlands.

It is in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The original oil sketch of the painting is at the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, and he also made lithographs of the image, which are held in collections including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

The painting is considered to be one of Van Gogh's masterpieces.

Judith Bridgland, 1962 | Landscape painter

Judith Bridgland was born in Australia, and trained in Glasgow, Scotland where she now lives and works. She graduated from Glasgow University in 1984 with a Masters degree with Honours in Fine Art.

Judith creates paintings very much in the Scottish colourist tradition. Her art works are bold, exuberant and vibrantly joyful landscapes.

Working in oils, her paintings use bold, vigorous, rhythmical strokes of impasto paint combined with delicate brushwork.

This gives an exciting texture to the paint surface along with a sense of abstraction, which reflects nature’s contrasts and delicate harmonies. However, whilst the work is very painterly, it also has a strong sense of place.

Fortemente ispirato dai movimenti artistici russi del 15°, 17° e 18° secolo, nonché dalla pittura medievale di icone, i dipinti di Andrey Remnev sono interpretazioni ostentate e stranamente ipnotiche.

Nonostante il riferimento alla pittura medievale, c'è unasottile, tocco contemporaneo nelle opere di Andrey attraverso gli elementi più surreali che sono inclusi.

Pierre Auguste Cot | Biografia ed Opere

Pierre Auguste Cot (1837-1883) è stato un pittore Francese che ha vissuto 46 anni.

Auguste Cot studiò dapprima nella Scuola di Belle arti di Tolosa, quindi a Parigi, dove fu allievo di Léon Cogniet, di Alexandre Cabanel e di William-Adolphe Bouguereau.

Debuttò con successo al Salon del 1863 e, dal 1870 in poi, la sua popolarità crebbe rapidamente.

Godette della protezione del suo maestro Bouguereau, con il quale lavorò, ed, in particolare, di quella dello scultore Francisque Duret, di cui sposò la figlia.

Paul Gauguin | Natura morta con manghi, 1893

"Natura morta con manghi" fu probabilmente eseguito a Tahiti, durante il primo viaggio del pittore Francese Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) nell'isola nel 1891-93, anche se Georges Wildenstein suggerisce che potrebbe risalire alla sua seconda visita nei Mari del Sud, intorno al 1896.

Zinaida Serebriakova (1884-1967)

Zinaida Yevgenyevna Serebriakova / Зинаи́да Евге́ньевна Серебряко́ва was the first female Russian painter of distinction, as a master of portrait, genre scenes from the life of peasantry.

She was born near Kharkov into one of Russia's most refined and artistic families. In 1900 she entered the art school founded by Princess M. K. Tenisheva.

Serebriakova studied under Repin in 1901 and Braz between 1903-1905.

Gli studi di Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1527-1593)🎨 su figure di animali, uccelli e piante datati 1553, sono stati recentemente scoperti negli album delle biblioteche ed i musei di Vienna, Dresda e Bologna.

Ulteriori studi sono datati 1562, anno del suo arrivo a Vienna.

Come dimostrano questi primi disegni, la sua attività come un illustratore di esemplari naturali era un prerequisito essenziale per la creazione delle sue teste composite delle "Quattro Stagioni"🎨 ed i "Quattro elementi🎨".

Giuseppe Arcimboldo🎨 è stato un pittore Italiano del periodo Manierista🎨, noto soprattutto per le "Teste Composte", ritratti burleschi eseguiti combinando tra loro, in una sorta di trompe-l'œil, oggetti od elementi dello stesso genere (prodotti ortofrutticoli, pesci, uccelli, libri, ecc.) collegati metaforicamente al soggetto rappresentato, in modo da sublimare il ritratto stesso.

Paris Bordone (Italian, 1500-1571)

Pàris Paschalinus Bordón, od anche Pàris Bordone (Treviso, 5 luglio 1500 – Venezia, 19 gennaio 1571), è stato un pittore Italiano della Repubblica di Venezia del Rinascimento, che lavorò anche insieme a Tiziano, pur caratterizzandosi per una impostazione più marcatamente manierista ed un vigore che lasciava trasparire la sua formazione provinciale.

Paris Bordon nacque a Treviso, ma si trasferì a Venezia già nella tarda adolescenza. Nel capoluogo veneto studiò brevemente e in modo alquanto infelice (secondo il Vasari) con Tiziano. Vasari potrebbe aver incontrato Bordon da vecchio.
